Victor, New York - July 25, 2000 - BioWorks, Inc. announced today that it has received notification from the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) that the company's EPA-registered biological fungicide, PlantShield Biological Foliar and Root Fungicide, based on Trichoderma harzianum strain T-22, is ALLOWED for use in the production of organic food and fiber. "I am very pleased that PlantShield is listed by OMRI as being allowed for use in organic production," says Bill Foster, President & CEO of BioWorks, Inc. "There are few, if any university tested, EPA-registered biological fungicides for organic production, making PlantShield and its related products, RootShield® and T-22 Planter Box, important tools in organic production and disease management." PlantShield carries a 0-hour restrictive entry interval and is a preventative biofungicide for the control of Pythium, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium root diseases plus Botrytis and Powdery Mildew foliar diseases.
